Beautiful sandy beaches run the length of the island on the north side. Along these beaches it is were the Golden Tulip Resort Strandhotel Seeduyn is located. The ?wadden? (mud flats) form the horizon om the south side of the island. There are many forests and a beautiful salty marsh area, ?de Kroonspolders?. The island ends in a huge sand flat ?de Vliehors?. It?s well know for it?s unspoiled nature and wild live.The only village, the picturesque town of Oost-Vlieland, is dominated by a red lighthouse on the Vuurboetsduin, the highest dune on the island, providing an stunning view in all directions. The facades of the buildings in the village bring to mind days of yore. Behind the facades you will find excellent shops, cosy bars and intimate restaurants. Vlieland is refreshing.
